What I heard
Participants described roads, sidewalks, trails and public rights-of-way that remain safe and dependable through winter, construction and changing conditions. They raised maintenance, lighting, snow clearing and accessible parking as connected concerns.
Why it matters
A broken, blocked or poorly maintained route can prevent someone from reaching transit, work, school or a nearby service. These barriers are especially serious for residents using mobility devices or travelling in winter.
What I learned...
Participants viewed accessibility as a year-round operating standard. Building an accessible route is not enough if snow, construction or poor maintenance later makes it unusable.
