What I heard
Participants wanted Peterborough to protect green space, farmland and Treaty land while directing growth toward complete, walkable neighbourhoods with housing, parks and everyday services.
Why it matters
Land-use decisions last for generations. Where and how the city grows affects infrastructure costs, transportation choices, access to nature, food production and whether daily needs can be reached without a car.
What I learned...
Participants did not see environmental protection and housing as opposing goals. They connected compact, complete neighbourhoods with both better access and less pressure to expand onto valuable land.
