A city where people can build a future

A city where people can build a future

What I heard

Participants described Peterborough as a city with unrealized potential. They wanted graduates, entrepreneurs and community members to find meaningful opportunities here instead of feeling they must leave to build a career or business.

Why it matters

A city that retains people and ideas is better able to sustain local businesses, community organizations, public services and a diverse tax base.

What I learned...

Participants linked economic development with belonging. Their vision was not only about attracting investment, but about creating reasons for people already connected to Peterborough to stay and contribute.
Jurisdiction notes
The City influences economic conditions through land-use planning, infrastructure, permits, business services, procurement and economic-development strategy. Employment, education, investment and broader economic policy also depend on employers, institutions and other governments.
